Project Description
A novel simple and rapid test, "RLDT" for Campylobacter is developed in the PIs lab at JHU. The student will evaluate this test in an endemic country, Bangladesh. This is a collaboration between icddr,b and JHU.
Scope of Work
The student will be trained in the RLDT assay at JHU. The stool samples collected from children under the ongoing "INSIGHT" study funded by the NIH will be tested by the student using the RLDT in the field lab in Dhaka, Bangladesh. DNA will be isolated from the stool and tested by qPCR in Bangladesh or at JHU. The RLDT and qPCR results will be compared to evaluate the performance of RLDT. Age, sex, and antibiotic treatment data will also be analyzed. The student is expected to help in writing the manuscript.
