Project Description
Consumption of unhealthy foods can compromise metabolic control, resulting in higher glycemic and cholesterol levels and potentially leading to negative health outcomes. Recent studies by the local team have showed that some adults in this Southern Brazilian population have increased consumption of substances that are detrimental to metabolic control, such as coconut oil. This project will draw on survey data to elucidate nutritional behaviors in the broader local population, taking into consideration the demographic and socio-economic factors associated with unhealthy food choices.
Scope of Work
The student who participates in this project will be expected to work on data management and analysis, helping the local team assemble and clean their data sources, and helping conduct data analysis. The student will work alongside local graduate students and participate on the local team's research meetings. The student will also have the opportunity for coauthorship in manuscripts provided that their contribution meets authorship standards.
