Project Description
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) remains the leading cause of death among persons living with Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in southern Africa. South Africa has the world’s highest rate of TB/HIV co-infection and ranks fourth worldwide for both multi-drug resistant (MDR) TB incidence and HIV prevalence. This cluster randomized trial is comparing nurse-led care to physician led care in treating with the new all oral 6-month BPaL regimen across 2 provinces (KZN and Eastern Cape) in SA.
